My teacher and I loved doing this scale drawing activity with the students. We decided we wanted the students to have a lot of choices in this assessment. Students were able to choose a logo they wanted to use for their drawing, and they also were able to choose a scale size between 5-15. A day before the scale drawings started we passed around a sign up sheet for students to pick any logo they wanted and we printed them all off.
We also made a rubric for the students to know how they were going to be graded on their scale drawing.
The attached sheet shows how we set up the scale drawing for the students. We gave the students about 3 days for students to work in class on setting up a scale and working on their drawing and then had a few days at home before it was due. All the students were so excited to turn in their drawing and kept asking when they could get theirs back to hang up in their room! It was great seeing how engaged the students were, just because they got to choose a logo that meant something to them.
